Morena Train Accident: A very tragic train accident took place in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. There was a sudden panic among the passengers due to the spread of rumor of fire in Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity Express. Some people got down from the train in panic. Meanwhile, four people died after being hit by Patalkot Express passing on the other track.
The accident happened in the evening
This incident happened on Sunday evening at around 4:15 pm on Hetampur-Dholpur railway section under Saraichhaula police station area. According to railway officials, the Khajuraho-Udaipur Intercity Express had to be stopped midway. It was reported that a passenger had pulled the alarm chain, due to which the train stopped for some time.
Rumor spread due to smoke coming out of mobile phone
According to eyewitnesses, a passenger’s mobile phone was heated or smoke was coming out in one of the compartments. After this, some people expressed fear of fire in the train. Within no time this news spread throughout the compartment and an atmosphere of fear was created among the passengers. Many passengers started deboarding the train without confirming the situation. Some people got scared and went towards another nearby railway line.
Passengers hit by another train
At the same time, Patalkot Express was passing at high speed from the direction of Agra. The passengers present on the other track did not get a chance to recover and four people were hit by the train. The accident was so serious that all four died on the spot. After this incident, there was chaos among the people present nearby and railway officials were immediately informed.
Four people including mother and son died
Those who lost their lives in the accident include 35-year-old Afreen, his four-year-old son Asad Khan, 60-year-old Shakuntala and 60-year-old Virma Devi. Everyone was traveling with their families. As soon as the news of the accident was received, there was mourning among the families of the deceased. As soon as information about the incident was received, the team of Railway Administration, RPF, GRP and local police reached the spot. Officials inspected the incident site and started relief operations. Necessary assistance was also provided to the affected passengers. According to railway officials, initial investigation has not revealed any incident of fire in the train. It is believed that only due to rumor, panic spread among the passengers, due to which this major accident occurred.
Investigation started, appeal to passengers
The railway administration has started a detailed investigation into the entire matter. Officials say that all aspects of the accident will be investigated. Also, an appeal has been made to the passengers not to immediately believe any kind of rumor and in case of emergency, follow the instructions of the railway employees. Railways says that necessary steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in future.
