Pushkar Singh Dhami: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the symposium on “Importance of higher education in building a developed India 2047” organized at Shivalik College of Engineering, Dehradun on Saturday, said that higher education is not just a medium of acquiring knowledge, but is the foundation stone of building a developed, self-reliant and prosperous India. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, unprecedented changes have taken place in the field of education, innovation, research and skill development in the country, which will play an important role in realizing the resolve of making India a developed nation by the year 2047.

The Chief Minister said that the National Education Policy- 2020 is a historic initiative towards restoring the ancient glory of the Indian education system. This policy is promoting all-round development, innovation, research and practical skills of students and preparing them for future challenges. He said that higher educational institutions should not be developed as mere teaching centers but as centers of excellence of knowledge, research and innovation.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is today becoming a major startup hub of the world and campaigns like Digital India and Self-reliant India have given new impetus to India’s development journey. He said that today India is making its strong identity at the global level in various fields including science, technology, defence, space, health and education.

The Chief Minister said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has been the center of rich tradition of education, knowledge and spirituality. The state government is continuously working towards innovation in education, digital learning and strengthening the education system based on Indian values. Along with expansion of smart classrooms, digital libraries, online learning facilities, modern subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science are being promoted in the state. He said that the Center for Hindu Studies established in Doon University will give a new direction to the study and research of Indian knowledge tradition.

The Chief Minister said that in the changing global scenario, it is necessary to equip the youth with skills, innovation and leadership abilities as per the future. For this, the state government is encouraging coordination between industries and educational institutions, internships, industry-linked courses and startup and incubation centres. He said that the objective of the state government is to make the youth not just employment seekers but employment creators.

The Chief Minister called upon the academicians, experts and intellectuals present to use their knowledge and experience to play an active role in realizing the resolution of Developed India 2047.

On this occasion, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party Shri Nitin Nabin, Rajya Sabha MP and State President of BJP Shri Mahendra Bhatt, Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, President of Shivalik College of Engineering Shri Sunil Kumar, Vice President Shri Ajay Kumar, Vice Chancellors of various universities and academicians, experts and intellectuals from various fields were present.
