Giriraj Singh angry on NDA: The seat distribution in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the Bihar Assembly elections was announced, but the announcement of the names of the candidates to be held on Monday evening was suddenly postponed for a day. Not only this, the official tweet giving information about the joint press conference was also deleted, due to which the heated discussion in the political circles has intensified. Meanwhile, Union Minister and BJP’s firebrand leader Giriraj Singh has made a controversial post on social media, in which he has taken a dig at those doing ‘strike rate’ politics by showing a glimpse of the results of the 2010 assembly elections.
Giriraj Singh’s sharp taunt on ‘strike rate’
Giriraj Singh has made a long post on his social media handle ‘X’ (X), in which he has not taken anyone’s name directly, but his target is believed to be on those colleagues like Chirag Paswan, who have secured more seats on the basis of strike rate in the Lok Sabha. Giriraj Singh wrote, “This is the real strike rate. Today, by taking a strong seat, they are making noise about the strike rate.” He presented the statistics of 2010 Bihar elections, when NDA created history by winning 206 out of 243 seats.
JDU: Won 115 out of 141 seats (strike rate 81%).
BJP: Won 91 out of 102 seats (strike rate 89%).
He also reminded that in 2010, the opposition was reduced to 37 seats, in which Lalu’s RJD had to be content with 22 and Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP had to be content with only 3 seats.
Why did this ‘bawali’ post come?
This post of Giriraj Singh is important because in the seat distribution of NDA, Chirag Paswan bargained with BJP an excellent strike rate (5 out of 5 seats) for the Lok Sabha elections. LJP-RV, which won only 1 seat by fighting on 135 seats in 2020, had to give up 29 seats this time. Nityanand Rai, Dharmendra Pradhan and Amit Shah had to spend their energy to persuade Chirag Paswan. Once Nityanand Rai had to return empty handed from Chirag’s house because Chirag had gone to the ministry. To give 29 seats to Chirag, Jitan Ram Manjhi, who had asked for 15 seats, had to settle for 6 seats and Upendra Kushwaha, who had asked for at least 10 seats, had to be satisfied with 6 seats. Due to this reshuffle, BJP also had to compromise on 101 seats as against 112 in 2020 and JDU had to compromise on 101 seats as against 115.
Anxiety increased due to postponement of candidate announcement
Even after the announcement of seat distribution, a final consensus could not be reached on the names of the candidates, due to which the press conference had to be postponed. There is discussion in political circles that this delay could be due to the displeasure of leaders like Giriraj Singh or due to the claims of allies on the won seats. At present, all eyes are on Tuesday, when the NDA alliance can announce its candidates.
