Now the Bharatiya Janata Party has given a new direction to his political journey by making him the Legislative Council candidate. In recent years, Pawan Singh’s name has been associated with many political and personal controversies. In such a situation, instead of directly fielding him in a major election, BJP has chosen the path of first establishing him in politics through the Upper House. Pawan Singh was made the candidate from Asansol seat of West Bengal in the first Lok Sabha elections, but due to some controversies, his candidature came into discussion. After this, there were speculations about his being active in Bihar Assembly elections also, but the developments related to his personal life and the announcement of his wife Jyoti Singh contesting the elections changed the political equations. Under these circumstances, BJP decided to keep him away from any direct electoral contest and promote him in politics through the Legislative Council.
Becoming MLC is the first step towards a bigger destination.
Political analysts believe that becoming MLC is not any kind of demotion for Pawan Singh, but it is a preparation for a bigger political role. There is a possibility that BJP may make him a candidate from Arrah seat of Bihar in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Pawan Singh, who recently came to pay homage at the statue of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh in Jagdishpur, received a warm welcome. A large number of supporters present there raised slogans like “Aara ka MP kaisa ho, Pawan Singh jaisa ho”, from which his popularity can be gauged.
Political training will take place in three years
There is still about three years time for the Lok Sabha elections. During this time, BJP will try to prepare Pawan Singh as a public representative and organizational leader. The party wants him to emerge as not just a popular artist but an influential political face. Their image will be strengthened through political experience and organizational responsibilities, which will make it easier to face electoral challenges in future.
BJP will get benefit in both Bihar and UP
The BJP hopes that Pawan Singh’s popularity will strengthen the NDA in areas like Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur and Sasaram in Bihar. Besides, his star appeal can also be used in the election campaign of other states including Uttar Pradesh. Pawan Singh’s association with BJP MPs already active in Bhojpuri-speaking areas such as Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan could strengthen the party at both cultural and political levels. In political circles, this is being considered a part of BJP’s long-term strategy.
