Uttarakhand News: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami today inspected the preparations for the International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition to be organized in Gadarpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district and took stock of the arrangements. After reaching the venue, the Chief Minister closely inspected the various preparations related to the competition, the facilities being made for the players, security arrangements, technical arrangements, transportation, accommodation and other necessary arrangements.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned officials that for the successful organization of this international level competition, all preparations should be completed in a timely manner as per the prescribed standards. He said that all departments should work in mutual coordination to ensure that players, coaches, judges and participants coming from India and abroad do not face any kind of inconvenience.
During the inspection, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami himself experienced water sports activities and said that there is immense potential for adventure sports in Uttarakhand. The natural conditions of the state are favorable for water sports, mountain sports and adventure sports. In this direction, continuous efforts are being made by the government to expand sports facilities and develop modern sports infrastructure.
The Chief Minister said that the aim of the state government is to give national and international recognition to Uttarakhand in the field of sports. For this, along with providing better training, facilities and opportunities to the players, organizing large-scale competitions is being encouraged. He said that international level competitions provide a platform to the young players of the state to showcase their talent and inspire them to move forward at the global level.
He said that such events not only promote sports activities but also give new impetus to tourism, local business, employment and economic activities in the state. The identity of Uttarakhand as an adventure tourism state will be further strengthened and tourists from India and abroad will get involved in the natural beauty as well as sports activities here.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working at many levels to take sports to the masses and to encourage the youth towards sports. Continuous steps are being taken towards identifying sports talents and promoting them, providing training facilities and encouraging outstanding performing players.
He instructed the officials that all the necessary arrangements including cleanliness, drinking water, medical facilities, security, traffic management should be ensured at the competition venue with high quality, so that this event becomes an example of better work culture and hospitality of Uttarakhand. On this occasion, MLA Shri Arvind Pandey along with officials of concerned departments and other dignitaries were present.
