Uttarakhand News: Under the guidelines of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, major steps are being taken in the direction of conservation of lakes, expansion of tourism facilities and strengthening of transport system in Nainital district. In this sequence, Secretary of Housing and State Property Department, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar reviewed the progress by conducting on-site inspection of various development projects on Saturday.
On Saturday, on-site inspection of various development and beautification works in Nainital district was conducted by Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Secretary, Housing and State Property Department. During the inspection, a detailed overview of the progress of the ongoing and proposed projects for redevelopment of lakes, expansion of tourism facilities and strengthening of transport system was made.
Comprehensive action plan for beautification of Bhimtal Lake
DPR worth about ₹ 25.67 crore has been prepared for the redevelopment and beautification of Bhimtal Lake. Under this scheme, works like redevelopment of major parks located around the lake, development of boating dock near Deendayal Park, 4210 meter long cobble stone walkway on the lake shore, beautification of gardens, improvement in parking system, installation of solar street lighting and street furniture are proposed. During the inspection, the Secretary gave instructions to the concerned officers to quickly complete all these works as per the proposed standards.
Expansion of tourism facilities in Naukuchiatal
Under the scheme of about ₹ 20.97 crore for the beautification of Naukuchiatal Lake, development of facilities like boating stand, waiting room and ticket counter, parking facility, floating jetty, 2089 meter long walkway, construction of gazebo, viewpoints, landscaping and solar lighting is proposed. During the inspection, instructions were given to complete these works with quality within the stipulated time.
Development of modern facilities in Kamaltal area
Works like open shopping center (plaza), 50 meter long foot bridge, 100 meter walkway, parking system, solar lighting and landscaping are proposed in Kamaltal area. This area will be developed as a major tourist attraction in the future.
Multilevel parking and complex construction in Bhawali
The construction work of multi-level car parking and commercial complex is in progress in Lakdi Tall area in Bhawali. In this project, parking in the basement and construction of about 40 shops on the ground floor and first floor is proposed. The progress of the work is approximately 96 percent complete and upon completion, parking facility for 124 vehicles will be available here. Officials were instructed to complete the remaining work soon and start operations.
Parking system will be strengthened in Nainital city
A project worth about ₹ 42.77 crore has been approved for the construction of Sarovar Parking in Mallital area of Nainital, under which parking facility will be developed for 605 four-wheelers and 202 two-wheelers. Apart from this, a project of ₹ 30.43 crore is proposed for automated parking on the municipal land near Nainital Club, which will provide parking facility for 202 four-wheelers and 96 two-wheelers.
Instructions to expedite pending works
During the inspection, the Secretary gave clear instructions to the officers that all the construction works should be completed with quality and as per the prescribed time limit. Where the work has not started, instructions were also given to start the work soon and if necessary, to make changes in the concerned executing agencies.
Instructions on use of Ashok parking space
While inspecting the Ashok parking lot located on Nainital-Haldwani road, it was directed that necessary action should be taken soon for the construction of parking using the previously approved funds, so that the traffic system can be made smooth.
Big step towards tourism and traffic improvement
This inspection is an important initiative towards strengthening tourism development, conservation of lakes and traffic management in Nainital district. The completion of these projects will not only provide convenience to the local citizens but will also ensure a better experience for the tourists.
