Uttarakhand News: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a surprise inspection of the transit camp in Rishikesh on Wednesday and took stock of the arrangements related to Chardham Yatra and registration process. During this, he inspected the registration, health check-up and accommodation arrangements of the passengers. The Chief Minister also took feedback of the Yatra from a large number of devotees who had come from other states.
Devotees do not have to wait for registration
The Chief Minister inquired about the registration arrangements made for the devotees in the transit camp. He said that it should be ensured that devotees do not have to wait for registration. He inspected the health check-up centers and asked to pay special attention to the health of the passengers. During the inspection, the Chief Minister also inspected the arrangements for the stay of the devotees. In view of the increasing heat, he directed to install additional coolers in the transit camp and to provide drinking water and other necessary facilities in adequate quantity.
Safety and convenience of devotees is top priority: Chief Minister
While directing the officials to ensure better crowd management, the Chief Minister said that the safety and convenience of the devotees coming for the Chardham Yatra should be the top priority. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also interacted with the officers and employees working in the transit camp. Advising all the employees to take special care of their health, he said that they should welcome the devotees coming for Chardham Yatra with the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava” and ensure prompt resolution of their problems.
Passengers expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister
During the inspection, the Chief Minister also interacted with the devotees present in the transit camp and took feedback about the travel arrangements. Pilgrims from various states including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar appreciated the arrangements made for the Chardham Yatra. The devotees described the registration, health check-up, accommodation and other facilities as satisfactory.
Many elderly devotees met the Chief Minister and blessed him and expressed gratitude for making the Yatra smooth and orderly. The Chief Minister inquired about the well-being of the devotees and wished them a safe and pleasant journey.
The religious and cultural environment in the transit camp was also appreciated
Special arrangements have been made for telecast of Ramayana and Mahabharata through LED screens for the devotees in the transit camp. The passengers appreciated this initiative and said that it is giving them a spiritual and cultural experience during the wait. Kamini, who came from Uttar Pradesh, said, “She will start her Char Dham Yatra from Thursday. She has got the registration done this morning. She has been sitting in the transit camp since morning. There are adequate arrangements for coolers, fans and water. She told that she is also having a good time with Ramayana being played on TV.”
Shubham, who came from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, told that “He has returned to Rishikesh from Char Dham Yatra with his 3 friends, he is in the transit camp since this morning. He had started his journey from the transit camp, where he liked the facilities so much that he has come to stay here even while returning”. Omprakash, who came from Madhya Pradesh, said that he too had reached the transit camp in the morning and was preparing for the further journey. He had his meal in the transit camp itself and got his health checkup done. He appreciated the arrangements made by the state government.
Local products get boost with langar service in transit camp
For the convenience of the devotees, continuous arrangements for langar and free food and water are being made in the transit camp premises. On one hand, food services are being provided to the travelers by the volunteers, while on the other hand, local products are also being sold in the camp premises by the women of the self-help group. Through these stalls, local handicrafts, traditional products and items related to self-employment are being made available to the passengers. While on one hand women are getting the opportunity of economic empowerment, on the other hand local products are also being promoted.
