Uttarakhand News: During the meeting of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department at the Secretariat on Thursday, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the officials that the process of adjusting the medal winning players in the national competition in out-of-turn government service should be completed within the stipulated time. He said that an action plan should be made so that most of the players who get out-of-turn jobs get appointed in the sports department.
The Chief Minister said that a new sports policy should be brought in the state in accordance with the National Sports Policy 2025 brought by the Central Government. The Chief Minister directed the officials to start the session at Uttarakhand State Sports University-Golapar, Haldwani from the next month. The Chief Minister said that the admission process at Golapar Stadium and the appointment process of coaches, employees and officers should be carried forward rapidly. He said that the construction work of mini stadiums under One Block One Mini Stadium should also be expedited.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to work on the legacy plan at a fast pace. He said that the facilities developed in the stadiums located at Maharana Pratap Sports College Dehradun, Haldwani Golapar Stadium, Rudrapur Velodrome, Tehri Lake, Haridwar and Pithoragarh should be made more useful for the players. He said that special attention should be paid to the maintenance of the infrastructure developed during the 38th National Sports Competition and an action plan should be made for this.
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that special training camps should be started in various disciplines to train players for the upcoming 39th National Games in 2027. The selection/marking process of players should also be taken forward with various sports associations. He said that the resolution of the state government is to establish Devbhoomi as a sports ground by performing better in the upcoming national games.
The Chief Minister said that under One District One Sports, coaching, talent identification and competition should also be developed in the respective districts for the prescribed sports in all the districts. Every district sports hostel should be developed as ODOS sports nursery for the prescribed sports of that district. The Chief Minister said that the resolution of the state government is to provide quality sports facilities to every player of the state and to promote them according to their talent. He said that realizing the dreams of the youth is the top priority of the government. He said that departmental officers should take forward sports schemes in the state as per the needs of the players.
It was told in the meeting that till now a total of 29 medal winning players have been adjusted in government jobs. With this, a total of 48 mini stadiums have been constructed so far under One Block One Mini Stadium. The work of 10 mini stadiums is in progress. The process of transfer of land on other mini stadiums is in progress.
It was told in the meeting that the work of India’s first women’s residential sports college, Lohaghat, is progressing rapidly. A total of 16 posts have been created for the operation of this college. Its admission process is also in progress. Also, a total of 39 infrastructure components including University Auditorium, Central Library, Health Centre, Cafeteria, Research Centre, Shooting Range, Seminar Hall, Badminton Hall, Football Ground, Hockey Ground, 8 Lane Athlete Track, are being developed in Golapar, Haldwani, the first State Sports University of Uttarakhand and the tenth State Sports University of India – Golapar, Haldwani.
Sports Minister Smt. Rekha Arya, Principal Secretary AK Sudhanshu, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Director Sports Deepti Singh, Joint Director Shakti Singh, Deputy Director Neeraj Gupta, Assistant Director Rajesh Mamangai and others were present in the meeting.
