RJD 27 leaders removed: Amidst the campaign and ticket distribution of Bihar Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has taken big and strict action within its party. Amidst the election season, RJD has expelled 27 leaders from the party on charges of anti-party conduct. This action is a strong message to those leaders who were breaking electoral discipline. Among the 27 leaders who have been shown the way out of the party, many big names like former MLAs and former Legislative Councilors are also included. This shows that the RJD high command is not ready to compromise on electoral discipline under any circumstances.
Expelled for 6 years: Strict action against ‘rebels’
An official letter in this regard has been issued by state RJD President Mangni Lal Mandal. It has been clarified in the letter that the reason for the expulsion of these leaders is anti-party conduct, which was harming the electoral interests of the Grand Alliance. There are mainly two allegations against the expelled leaders: First, they have either jumped into the electoral fray by becoming independent candidates, ignoring party instructions. Second, they are openly behaving in opposition to the official candidate of the Grand Alliance, thereby reducing the alliance’s votes. RJD has expelled all these leaders from the primary membership of the party for a period of 6 years. This action is an attempt to prevent possible damage to RJD and Grand Alliance candidates from ‘rebels’ in the Bihar elections.
Example of discipline: Trying to keep the Grand Alliance united
This strict action of RJD has come at a time when the election contest in Bihar is very tough. At any cost, the party wants to ensure that the victory of the Grand Alliance candidates is ensured and that no ‘rebel’ leader can harm the vote bank of the alliance. This decision of expulsion is a strong message not only for these 27 leaders, but for all those workers and leaders who go against the party’s decision or break discipline during the election season. RJD has also made it clear through this action that any kind of internal rebellion will not be tolerated in the fight for power. This step is a big exercise to keep RJD and the Grand Alliance united and disciplined in the elections.
