Madhya Pradesh News: ‘Statue of Oneness’, the 108 feet high statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya built on the banks of Narmada in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh, has now come under serious questioning. It has been claimed that there is a technical flaw in the pillar of the statue and its complaint has reached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh and Lokayukta. The special thing is that the officer who pointed out this technical flaw was removed from his post.
The series of complaints started from April
The process of complaints in this entire matter started from April 30. After this, on May 13, a complaint was sent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh and Lokayukta. It was said in the complaint that safety and technical standards have been ignored in this project to be built in the year 2023 at a cost of about Rs 2300 crore.
This complaint has been made by Biswajit Banerjee, the field director of the then Project Management Consultant (PMC) associated with this project.
Questions raised on structure design in international report
On May 12, Field Director Biswajit Banerjee, citing the International Structural Analysis Report, informed about the failure of a primary member of SS316L in the structure design of the statue.
He wrote in his report that during the design review meeting held on April 4 and 5, 2026, at the Trust office in Bhopal, the structural team of the EPC Contractor presented the ETABS Composite Model of the inner part of the statue. The model consisted of SS316L structural elements, concrete pedestal and foundation.
Claim of primary member failure revealed in review
According to the report, during review of the composite model of the statue submitted by EPC-1 along with the EDRC team, it was found that the primary member RHS 1000 x 1050 x 36 x 45, element number C12, was failing with a stress ratio of 1.244 under load case 102. Is.
The report also said that this issue had been discussed earlier and an RFC had already been issued to find out the reason for the failure of this primary member in the structure of the statue.
Concern was being expressed for six months
Biswajit Banerjee said in his report that for the last six months, concerns were being raised continuously regarding the health analysis of the structure of the statue. Despite this, the EPC contractor did not take the matter as seriously as was required.
He said that it appears that there was delay in taking necessary steps and also in taking necessary precautions. They sought detailed information from the EPC contractor on the composite model, stress ratios, ETABS analysis results and the basis on which the EDRC team accepted the design for further consideration.
Calling it a serious matter, the report also requested the EPC contractor to respond within two working days and provide information about the proposed measures to resolve the problem, so that the structural safety of the statue can be ensured.
The officer who made the complaint was removed from his post
The most important thing about this entire matter was that the then Field Director Biswajit Banerjee, who drew attention to the technical flaw in the pillar of the statue, was removed from his post. After this this matter has become more discussed.
Congress accused the government of corruption
Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari has also raised questions on the issue of defect in the pillar of the statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya in Omkareshwar.
He said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments have become synonymous with corruption. They allege that these people did not even leave religious places like Ram Mandir, Mahakal and Banglamukhi.
Jitu Patwari said that due to corruption the statue of Shankaracharya ji is crooked. He also raised the question whether any action would be taken against the company which was given the contract for this project.
