Dehradun. The state government has adopted a strict stance regarding the delay in residential projects run under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in Uttarakhand. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Tuesday, Secretary Housing Dr. R. While reviewing the progress of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Rajesh Kumar expressed displeasure over the slow pace of construction work. He gave clear instructions that the construction work of all the projects should be completed before August 15, 2026 under all circumstances. Action will be taken against developers and executing agencies who do not adhere to the stipulated timelines as per the terms of the contract.

In the review meeting held under the chairmanship of Secretary Housing, a detailed assessment of the progress of the ongoing projects in various districts under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) was made. It was revealed in the meeting that construction work in some projects is not going on at the expected pace, on which Secretary Housing reprimanded the concerned developers.

Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is one of the most important public welfare schemes of the Central Government and its objective is to provide timely permanent housing to the eligible families. In such a situation, negligence or unnecessary delay will not be accepted at any level. He directed the developers to regularly monitor the projects, ensure availability of adequate resources and complete the work of the projects which have reached the final stage on a war footing so that the possession of the houses can be handed over to the beneficiaries soon.

The Dhaulas housing project of Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) was also reviewed in the meeting. Secretary Housing directed the MDDA officials to complete all the allotment related processes expeditiously and to ensure the transfer of houses to the beneficiaries in a time bound manner in the projects whose construction is almost complete.

He said that the priority of the state government is to provide timely housing to every eligible family under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. For this, the department is continuously monitoring the progress of the projects and on-site inspections will also be conducted if necessary.

Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is not just a construction work, but a scheme related to the dream of thousands of families to have their own house. The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is committed to ensuring that housing is available to all eligible beneficiaries on time. He warned the officials and developers that if the work is not completed within the stipulated time, strict action will be taken against the concerned agencies as per the contract.

Joint Chief Administrator Dinesh Pratap Singh, Deputy Secretary Housing Dhirendra Rawat, Executive Engineer Vinod Kumar Chauhan, Executive Engineer Sunil Kumar, Assistant Engineer Akanksha Chauhan, Housing Expert Rohit Ranjan and representatives of developers and executing agencies associated with various projects were present in the meeting.
