Uttarakhand News: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while participating in the program organized at Sharda Ghat, Tanakpur on Friday, inaugurated the first phase of Sharda Corridor Project to be built at ₹ 185.20 crore. The Chief Minister said that Sharda Corridor Project is the center of our faith, cultural, heritage and sustainable development.

The Chief Minister said that the objective of Sharda Corridor is to develop the valley from Banbasa to Mata Rankochi as a beautiful confluence of religion, nature and employment. This land will no longer just be a center of faith, but a new stream of economic prosperity and opportunities will also flow into the lives of the people here.

The Chief Minister said that to give an eco-sensitive, clean, safe and attractive look to the banks of Sharda River, the work of Sharda Ghat Redevelopment Project is being started in the first phase (estimated cost ₹ 185.20 crore). Under this project, safe bathing ghats, aarti sites, cleanliness and rest facilities, beautiful ghats, easy access roads, walking paths, lighting and beautification works will be done.

Modern facilities like rainwater harvesting system and floor cooling system

The Chief Minister said that the Aarti site will be built with international level technology, which will have modern facilities like rainwater harvesting system and floor cooling system. The safety of the surrounding areas will be ensured by controlling the flow of the river with flood resistant structures.

The Chief Minister said that this project will bring new impetus to religious tourism, local economy and employment generation. He described it as a unique model from social, cultural and environmental point of view, which will become a symbol of development for the entire region.

The Chief Minister said that some areas of the Sharda Corridor Project fall in forest land, the process of land transfer of which is in progress with the Forest Department. This project is being operated through UIIDB. Transfer of revenue land areas like Danda and Chuka will also be completed soon, so that there is no delay in the works.

Religious and cultural centers will be built in Sharda Corridor.

The Chief Minister said that Purnagiri and Mata Rankochi areas, which will become the religious and cultural centers of the Sharda Corridor, will provide the experience of forest, animal and nature education along with reverence. He said that this area will be an example of eco-sensitive development, where the purity, greenery and natural balance of the river will be the top priority.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the government is resolved that the development of Sharda Corridor will be done with public participation, transparency and environmental balance. Opinion and participation of local citizens will be ensured in every decision. He said, Sharda Corridor is not just geographical development, it is a renaissance of our faith and soul. This will become an example for the coming generations, where tradition and progress, faith and modernity go together.

It is noteworthy that under the first phase of the Sharda Corridor Project to be built with ₹ 185.20 crore, Kirora Nala Ecological Corridor (₹ 109.57 crore) – the ecological corridor will be developed to conserve the biodiversity and enhance the disaster resistance capacity of the area. City Drainage Scheme – Phase 1 (₹62.11 crore): The urban drainage system will be strengthened to reduce flood events and manage rain water management. Alternative route to Thak village (₹5.34 crore) – This route, famous as the last hunting route of Corbett, will be made a safe and easy access route for the pilgrims. Apart from this, many other works are also included in it.

On this occasion, Minister of State Shyam Narayan Pandey, Shankar Koranga, District Panchayat President Anand Singh Adhikari, Block Chief Anchala Bohra, BJP District President Govind Samant, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganapati, Chief Development Officer Dr. G.S. Khati, Additional District Magistrate Krishna Nath Goswami, other public representatives and a large number of local citizens were present.
