According to sources, Fadnavis made a brief visit to Delhi on Saturday and later returned to Nagpur amid speculations about his entry into national politics in the backdrop of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Rejecting speculations about his entry into national politics, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that he is in Mumbai and Maharashtra only. While talking to reporters in Nagpur, Fadnavis, while downplaying the ‘Tiranga’ rally of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Mumbai, said that issues like National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question paper leak are not related to any individual or party, but to the youth of the country.
According to sources, Fadnavis made a brief visit to Delhi on Saturday and later returned to Nagpur amid speculations about his entry into national politics in the backdrop of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. When asked about his visit to Delhi, the Chief Minister said, “Today I am in Nagpur and will go to Mumbai in the evening.” I am in Mumbai and Maharashtra only.
He said he had no objection to Shiv Sena (Ubatha) and MNS’s ‘Tiranga’ rally in Mumbai to celebrate Pradhan’s resignation. “I am happy that they got a reason to celebrate,” Fadnavis said. We are also happy because such issues are not related to any person or party, but to the youth of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed utmost sensitivity and took the decision in the national interest.
He said that the Central Government will introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha on Monday, which will be the first bill of its kind in the country and the world. Fadnavis also targeted Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray over his comments during the ‘Tiranga’ rally.
He said, “Uddhav Thackeray has said such things many times in the last 10 years but his statements have no impact because the entire country stands with Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi.” A video of Modi ji released on Instagram at 1 o’clock in the night broke Instagram records worldwide. This shows with whom India stands.
Raut had made a claim on Fadnavis
Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut had indicated on Saturday that the chances of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis becoming the new education minister had increased. He said, “After the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, Fadnavis may get a chance to become the next education minister. Fadnavis is highly educated and is a lawyer. He also gives scholarly presentations on many subjects. There has been a lot of talk about his joining the Union Cabinet. Therefore, by chance or his bad luck, the possibility of him getting this big responsibility at the Center cannot be ruled out.” However, Prahlad Joshi has been given additional charge of the Education Ministry.
