New Delhi. The Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments to put nameplates on all the shops on the Kanwar Yatra route. The Supreme Court has issued notices to both the state governments on the petitions challenging this order and has sought a reply by Friday.

A bench of Justices Rishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti heard the name plate case in the Supreme Court on Monday. During this, they said that devotees can be served food of their choice while maintaining standard hygiene.

Singhvi said- the order is being implemented forcibly
The Supreme Court also said that ‘this is voluntary. It is not mandatory.’ However, senior advocate Abhishek Manusinghvi, appearing for the petitioners, said, ‘They are saying that this is voluntary, but it is being done forcibly. Action is being taken against those who are not agreeing. They are being fined. This is just a few kilometers away from Delhi. In a way, it is equivalent to their economic death.’

Abhishek Manu Singhvi also said, “There is a strange situation here. If I don’t write my name, I am kept out, if I write my name, I am still kept out.” Along with this, he said, “Thousands are losing their jobs. This needs to be looked into. This is an idea to separate not only Muslims but also Dalits.”

Judge Bhatti told his story in the Supreme Court
On this, Judge SV Bhatti shared his story and said, ‘At one place there was a hotel owned by a Muslim and a Hindu. I used to go to the Muslim one because international standards were followed there.’ Along with this, he asked, ‘What do the Kanwariyas want? They worship Lord Shiva. Do they want that food should be grown, made and served by a particular community?’

Along with this, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments and asked them to respond by Friday and has banned any kind of action till then.
