FIFA World Cup: FIFA World Cup 2026 co-host America has started the tournament with a resounding victory. In a one-sided match, America defeated Paraguay 4-1.
Folarin Balogun performed brilliantly for America and scored two goals. The US team looked dominant throughout the match and did not give any chance to Paraguay to make a comeback. The start of the match was excellent for America. America took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of the match. Damien Bobadilla scored a brilliant goal penetrating Paraguay’s defence.
Folarin Balogun doubled America’s lead in the 31st minute of the match. Paraguay’s defense appeared completely helpless in front of Folarin’s brilliant skills. In the injury time of the first half, Folarin once again had a strong performance and put America ahead 3-0 in the match. America’s victory was almost certain in the first half itself.
However, in the second half, Paraguay played aggressively and tried to make a comeback. The team got success in the 73rd minute of the match. Paraguay’s substitute player Mauricio scored the first goal in the match for Paraguay. After this, America increased the aggression in its game and continuously put pressure on Paraguay’s defense. Despite a lot of efforts, the Paraguay team did not succeed in scoring a goal.
Giovani Reyna increased the US lead to 4-1 in stoppage time after the scheduled 90 minutes. Just before the final whistle of the match, he once again pierced Paraguay’s defense and sealed America’s emphatic victory. Folarin Balogun became the first American player to score two goals in a FIFA World Cup since 1930. With this win, America has started the tournament on a great note and the team would like to maintain this momentum in the upcoming matches as well.
