ICC ODI Rankings: ICC has released the latest men’s ODI rankings on Monday, in which India remains ‘number-1’. However, its lead at the top has definitely diminished. On the other hand, Pakistan has slipped one place. In the latest ranking, India’s rating has fallen from 119 to 118. At the same time, New Zealand has got two points. This team is at second position with 113 rating. Now the difference between the top-2 teams has reduced from 8 to 5 only.
There is no change in the rating (109) of current ODI World Cup champion Australia. This team currently remains at third position. Meanwhile, changes have been seen in the top-5. South Africa has moved up one place to fourth position. South Africa has got four rating points. Now this team has 102 points, while Pakistan has lost four points. This country has slipped to fifth place in the ranking with 98 points.
Despite losing two points, Sri Lanka remained in sixth place. This team has 96 points, while Afghanistan, after a slight decline, remained at seventh position with 93 points. England remained in eighth position after gaining one rating point, while Bangladesh remained in ninth position with 84 points.
The gap between Bangladesh and 10th-placed West Indies widened significantly. The Caribbean team has lost three rating points. Now this team has 74 points. Outside the top-10, Ireland has moved up from Zimbabwe to 11th after gaining two rating points. After falling by one point, Zimbabwe has slipped to 12th position. The United States of America (USA) team has moved up to 13th position, overtaking Scotland, its rating has increased to 46. Scotland dropped one place after losing one point.
Further down the table, the Netherlands recorded one of the strongest gains in the rankings update, adding four points to 44, while Oman rose to 33 points. Nepal slipped four points to 25th, while Namibia improved marginally to 23rd.
Coupled with India’s continued dominance in ODI and T20 cricket, Australia currently tops the ICC men’s Test rankings. This country also occupies the first position in both women’s ODI and T20 team rankings. The ICC’s annual update takes into account the performance of teams over a specified ranking period, with recent results given weightage in deciding a team’s rating.
