Virat Kohli: There was an altercation on the field between Travis Head and Virat Kohli during the IPL 2026 match last week, after which Travis Head’s wife Jessica has said that her family and friends have faced objectionable comments. When Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) came out to chase the target against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), there was some altercation between Kohli and Head. When Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 55 runs, Head tried to shake hands with Kohli after the match, but Kohli passed by him without replying and refused to shake hands, while he shook hands with other SRH players in a normal manner. This incident quickly went viral on social media and people started reacting strongly on social media platforms.
Jessica told ‘The Advertiser’ on Monday, “It seems as if the objectionable comments that we faced after the World Cup are happening again. When I woke up in the morning, I saw that my social media was flooded with abusive words. We are fine, but they are attacking my friends and family.”
Jessica also told that even when Australia defeated India in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023, the World Test Championship final and the Boxing Day Test of 2024, she had to face such indecent comments. Jessica has appealed to fans to adopt a more respectful attitude towards cricketers and their families on social media.
Jessica said, “I think there is an important conversation going on right now in all sports around mental health, attitudes and how we talk to each other. Passion will always be a part of sport, but it’s equally important to remember that behind the sport are real people and families. Hopefully this will encourage more kindness and support towards each other.” Royal Challengers Bangalore will play Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans in Dharamshala on May 26, while Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator match on May 27.
