Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has advocated the use of alternative fuels like ethanol. He said at an event on Saturday that efforts are being made to start using ethanol in agricultural and construction sector equipment. The Union Minister said that we will talk to Bajaj to start scooter-auto in Pune on 100% ethanol and this will also reduce pollution.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said in Pune that the country imports petroleum products worth Rs 10 lakh crore every year to meet the needs of energy and power sector and this demand will increase to 25 lakh crores in the next five years. It is estimated to be Rs. crores, due to which the economy can be affected.
Nitin Gadkari Vasantdada of Pune was addressing the Sugar Conference-2022 organized by the Sugar Institute at the state level. “Alternative fuel is the future. After electric scooters, cars and buses, we will soon have electronic tractors and trucks. Diesel powered agricultural equipment should now be replaced by petrol engines and flex engines can be converted to ethanol engines. Efforts are being made to bring ethanol engine in construction equipment also.”
Nitin Gadkari said, “Bajaj TVS and Hero Flex engines brought motorcycles and autos. I followed PM and found 3 ethanol pumps of Indian Oil in Pune. But not a single drop of it was sold. So I would like to request Ajit Pawar that let’s come together and call a meeting with Bajaj. We will talk to Bajaj to launch Scooter-Auto on 100% Ethanol in Pune. Let’s start from here and this will also reduce pollution.
Recently, the Union Cabinet has given a green signal to meet the target of 20 percent adulteration of ethanol in petrol by 2025-26. Earlier this target was kept till 2030. At present, about 10 percent ethanol is mixed in petrol in the country.
