67.94 lakh digital life certificates have been prepared so far this year: Center

New Delhi, November 8 (IANS). According to the information given by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions on Saturday, 67.94 lakh DLCs have been prepared so far this year, out of which 40.42 lakh have been prepared through face authentication.

According to the ministry, DLC Campaign 4.0 is being run by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare in collaboration with various stakeholders from November 1 to 30. Its objective is to reach all the pensioners of the country.

These stakeholders include Pension Disbursement Bank, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners Welfare Association, CGDA, EPFO, DoT, Railways, UIDAI and MeitY.

P&PW Secretary V. Srinivas inaugurated the Mega Camp organized by Punjab National Bank in Delhi under the nationwide DLC Campaign 4.0.

In his address at the event, he said that for the digital empowerment of pensioners, the government has introduced the initiative of submitting the life certificate through digital mode. This initiative is promoting ease of living especially for old and sick pensioners. Especially with face authentication technology, the facility to create digital life certificate anytime, anywhere has been introduced.

According to the ministry, Punjab National Bank is organizing camps at 185 locations in 39 cities across the country.

During the mega camp, face authentication was used to create digital life certificates for pensioners. Srinivas also interacted with pensioners during the mega camp.

Earlier, information was given by the Center that 25.60 lakh DLCs have been prepared in 5 days from 1 to 5 November, out of which 61 percent i.e. 15.62 lakh have been prepared through face authentication. At the same time, more than 37000 DLCs of pensioners above 90 years of age and 985 DLCs of pensioners above 100 years of age were prepared.
