Adani Foundation, Adani Electricity celebrate National Mathematics Day with students in Mumbai

Mumbai, December 22 (IANS). Adani Foundation and Adani Electricity celebrated National Mathematics Day through a week-long fun-filled learning activities with students of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools in Mumbai.

National Mathematics Day in India is celebrated every year on 22 December in honor of the birth anniversary of the great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Under the flagship educational initiative Project ‘Utthaan’, the festival focused on the theme ‘Mathematics’, which helped students experience mathematics as a part of everyday life rather than a feared subject in the classroom.

This program was specially designed to make mathematics easy, practical and fun for primary school students.

An Adani Electricity spokesperson said, “Project Utthaan reflects our long-term commitment towards the all-round development of children in the communities we serve. Mathematics is central to modern life, technology and problem solving. Through the theme ‘Mathematics around us’, our aim was to help students find mathematics useful, understandable and fun. Our partnership with BMC schools ensures that good quality That fun education should reach every child.”

The spokesperson further added, “Under our initiative, school classrooms were transformed into learning hubs where students understood numbers, shapes, patterns and logic through hands-on activities, games and group challenges.”

Students, teachers and Utthaan Sahayaks participated enthusiastically in this celebration and facilitated the activities at the ground level.

A variety of thoughtfully designed activities were conducted with clear learning objectives. Through puzzles and games like Tangram Challenge, Sudoku Corner, Logic Puzzles and Multiplication Pyramid, students strengthened number sense, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Hands-on activities like creating 2D and 3D shapes using straws and origami-based geometry helped students understand spatial concepts and apply mathematical ideas in a practical way.

The special session, including a short film on the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan and the Mathematics Pledge, was aimed at instilling respect for the subject and creating a positive emotional connection with learning mathematics.

The spokesperson further added, “Under Project Utthaan, our focus is to transform the classroom into a place of curiosity and confidence. Celebrating National Mathematics Day through activities and games is an effective way to strengthen basic maths. When children enjoy learning, fear goes away and confidence increases. This is in line with NEP 2020 and is a meaningful step towards achieving the goals of Nipun Bharat.”
