Gandhinagar, 14 September (IANS). During the fifth All India Official Language Conference held on Sunday in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a commendable initiative on the occasion of Hindi Day. Inaugurating the conference, he provided Artificial Intelligence (AI) based special glasses to visually impaired students.
AI-based glasses are the latest technical equipment that assist objects, navigation and daily tasks for visually impaired individuals.
12th grade student Jenil Parekh expressed his happiness and enthusiasm in a conversation with IANS. Genil said that these AI glasses can prove to be revolutionary for visually impaired students. These glasses have a camera, which scans the text, captures the image and then read it through a microphone or mobile device. This helps in improving studies, acquisition of knowledge and daily tasks. Jenil said that these glasses provide not one, but many benefits.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in his address, described AI glasses as a brief light in the lives of visually impaired persons.
Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done a lot of work for the disabled. It is an honor for him to name ‘Divyang’. God has given immense strength to our disabled brothers and sisters, and to exploit this strength, you should resort to science and technology. Emphasizing the specialty of AI glasses, he said that this glasses enabled visually impaired individuals to read the text written on paper, which is heard in their ears in their mother tongue. This feature will make their studies and daily life easier.
Shah said that on this occasion, five visually impaired persons were given this glasses, which he greeted on his behalf. He appealed to the voluntary organizations across the country to cooperate in such an initiative, so that visually impaired people can be adept at reading and writing and improve their lives.
