AI is being used to prevent theft in mines and increase efficiency and safety: G Kishan Reddy

New Delhi, February 18 (IANS). Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday said AI is being used on a trial basis in the country’s mines to increase production, prevent theft, increase efficiency and safety.

Speaking to news agency IANS, Reddy said, “Productivity can be increased through AI in mines. Apart from this, it can be used to prevent theft, increase efficiency and safety. Currently, it is being used on a test basis.”

He further said that officials of the Ministry of Mines have also come to this summit and are exploring new ways of using AI in mines, so that productivity can be improved.

Central Pralhad Joshi said that AI is being used to take the public welfare schemes of the government to the general public.

He said that under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, we are giving food grains to more than 80 crore people. At present we are using Smart Warehouse, Smart PDS, Anna Chakra AI tools. From Anna Chakra we have saved Rs 250 crore through route optimisation. Through this we get to know which warehouse is closest to the world of public distribution. It’s helpful to recognize this.

Union Minister Manohar Lal said that AI can play an important role in the power supply sector.

He told IANS that AI can play a decisive role in power supply by providing accurate and fast information. This can solve many problems for which there was no solution till now. This will also help in ensuring 24-hour power supply to all consumers.
