New Delhi, October 25 (IANS). A latest report says that Apple may introduce a foldable iPhone for its users later this year. This phone will redefine customer expectations and bring foldable phones into a new mainstream adoption phase.
Counterpoint Research reports that one of the biggest structural changes is expected to come with Apple’s foldable iPhone in late 2026.
According to the report, Apple’s entry will increase customer awareness and replacement demand in the high-income segment. With the launch of this new phone there will be changes in brand dynamics and the overall market volume of the company will also increase.
The report estimates that the US foldable smartphone market will grow 68 percent year-on-year through 2025 as it enters a period of strong growth after several years of experimentation.
This strong growth is being driven by the superior durability of foldable designs and a diversified portfolio of multiple brands. This year, portfolio expansion and ecosystem readiness are redefining the market.
Samsung, on the other hand, is maintaining its leadership with its Galaxy Z Fold and Flip lineup.
The company has also introduced a new Fan Edition variant to attract the attention of customers. Along with this, the company is also preparing to launch its tri-fold device at the end of this year, for which customers have been waiting for a long time.
On the other hand, Motorola is rapidly expanding its Razr series. With this expansion, Motorola’s ability to compete with Samsung is also improving and the company’s share gap with Samsung is decreasing.
Liz Lee, associate director of Counterpoint Research, said that this year Samsung will remain at the forefront with maturity and strength of the ecosystem. At the same time, Motorola’s rapid expansion in the clamshell segment and Google’s AI-driven approach are giving a new shape to the competition.
He said that Apple’s entry in 2026 will not only expand the market but will also bring foldable phones into the mainstream premium smartphone format.
