New Delhi. Arattai app made by Indian tech company Zoho is now all set to compete with WhatsApp. After coming on Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, people liked Arattai App very much. It was downloaded by millions of people, but due to lack of end-to-end encryption, users were worried about the security of their chats. End to end encryption is available on WhatsApp. Now end to end encryption is also going to be available on Arattai app from Tuesday night. Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu has given this information by posting on Instagram.
Please update the Arattai app from the Play Store/App Store and please encourage your contacts to do so. The end to end encryption will be enabled
Tuesday night IST. Some important notes:1. If you are on the latest a
Arattai version and your contact is on the latest version,…— Sridhar Vembu (@svembu) November 18, 2025
End-to-end encryption is very important in any app that provides chat service. This maintains the privacy of the users. In end-to-end encryption, only the sender of the message and the one to whom it was sent can read the chat. Even the company that runs the app cannot read the chat between two people. Till now Arattai app did not have the facility of end to end encryption. Dozens of users who downloaded Aarttai on their mobiles had asked Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu to provide end-to-end encryption. Now Zoho is going to fulfill this demand. Those using the latest version of the app will get end to end encryption.
Those users who have already downloaded Aarttai will get a transition period till Thursday. That means they can chat without updating the Arattai app. After this they will have to update the Aarttai app for chat. According to Sridhar Vembu, the facility of end to end encryption for group chats on Arattai will come after a few weeks. Vembu has assured that no one including his company will be able to read the chats done through Arattai app. After the introduction of end-to-end encryption, Arattai will become the first such app made in India. This is also likely to pose a big challenge to WhatsApp. WhatsApp belongs to America’s Meta company. Meta is owned by Mark Zuckerberg. Unlike the chats of other foreign apps including WhatsApp, the chat data of Arattai will be kept in servers in India only.
