As the time of Diwali comes, people get involved in cleaning the dust and mud of the house, removing the old garbage and giving a new look to the house. But have you thought that your smartphone also needs cleaning? We are not talking about the physical cleanliness of the phone here, but will talk about internal cleanliness. There is a lot of digital junk inside your phone which not only slows the phone, but also increases the risk of hacking and scam.
Cyber thugs are most active in festivals. Because during this time people also do more online shopping. Users are wooed through e-commerce cells, bank offers and fake discount messages. If your phone has useless apps and old data, then the risk increases even more. Therefore, it is very important to clean your phone digitally before Diwali.
1. Delete not used and useless apps
There will be many such apps in your phone that you must have installed, but not used for months. Many times we install an app for some work and then do not use it for years. These apps run in the background, consume data and battery and sometimes reach your contacts, microphones or locations.
Go to Settings and see the list of apps.
Uninstall the apps you do not use immediately.
This will not only empty the storage, but will also reduce privacy risks.
2. Delete Cash and Junk Files
Many unnecessary files, thumbnails and cash data are deposited in smartphone storage. These can be cleaned in this way.
Settings> Storage> Clean it in cash data and clean it. Different options may appear according to different models.
If you want, use junk cleaner from an app like Google Files. No third-party free cleaning tools come under the guise.
This will increase the speed of the phone and also make a place in storage.
3. Keep the phone updated
Often people avoid the system updates, but they are very important for safety.
Settings> Go to the system update and see if there is any update pending.
Also install security patch updates.
This will protect your phone from new malware and hacking attacks.
4. Change password and pin
Banking fraud cases increase during festive season.
Update passwords to your banking apps, emails and social media accounts.
Create a strong password (combination of word + number + mark).
Turn on a two-factor authentication to keep the account safe even after the password is leaked.
5. Backup photos and data
The old photos and videos slow down the phone. There are many tools for this which can delete duplicate photos and files and delete them, you can also use them, but definitely ask the app publishers.
Back up in Google Photo or Cloud Storage.
Remove duplicate and blurred photos from the phone.
This will reduce the phone’s storage and improve the performance.
6. Install security app
Download a reliable antivirus or security app. Note that these are not freeware software, otherwise the situation will reversed. Because free apps mostly consume data and steal your data.
This protects the phone from malware, trojan and spyware.
Keep a real-time scan on so that any suspected link or file can be caught immediately.
