Google has finally rolled out the emergency live video feature for Android smartphones. This feature is already available on iPhones and can help save the lives of users in difficult situations. With this feature, distressed users can stream live video, giving rescue and relief teams a clear understanding of the situation. This feature can be very useful in cases of road accidents, fire and medical emergencies.
How will this feature work?
No setup is required to activate this feature. Whenever a user sends an emergency message or makes a call, he or she will receive a video sharing request from the responder. By accepting this request, the user can start streaming the video with just a single tap. This will allow rescue and relief teams to see the user’s condition and determine what assistance is needed. Google says that visual footage can be very helpful in providing assistance.
On which devices will this feature work?
This feature will work on devices running Android 8 and above operating systems. It is being launched first in the US, as well as parts of Germany and Mexico. It will be rolled out to other users later. It’s worth noting that Pixel devices already have an emergency video recording feature, but it works a little differently. It records video up to 45 minutes and sends a link to emergency contacts. The new feature will allow live video streaming.
This feature is already available on iPhones
Apple has been offering the Emergency SOS live video feature on its iPhones for several years. It allows users to live stream in emergency situations. It is worth noting that in recent times, companies like Apple and Google have started including many safety features in their devices, making it easier for users to seek help in emergency situations.
