Meta’s messaging app WhatsApp is working on a new feature which was earlier available only on Instagram. With this update, users will be able to save their status updates as drafts so that they can complete and post them later. Right now, this feature has been rolled out for some select beta users.
After adding it to chats, now draft feature in status also
Recently, WhatsApp introduced the option to save drafts for chats, making it easier to identify incomplete messages. This helped users remember which messages were yet to be sent. Now, WhatsApp is preparing to implement the same idea in its status section.
Save option available while creating status
According to a report by WABetaInfo, some beta testers are noticing a new option in the status editor. This allows users who are creating a status with text, stickers, drawings or photos but are not able to complete it immediately, save it as a draft and resume working on it later.
Now the work will not get spoiled due to interruption in between.
This feature is especially useful for those who tend to pause midway while creating a status or like to craft their posts carefully. Now, incomplete statuses will not be accidentally deleted.
No need to send messages to yourself anymore
Until now, if a user wanted to save an edited photo or an incomplete caption, they had to send it themselves in the chat. With the new update, the status editor will become a kind of workspace where drafts can be safely stored without being posted.
Security option even after pressing back button
The report says that a save button will be provided above the status editor. Tapping this will save the draft. Additionally, if the user tries to exit by pressing the back button, WhatsApp may ask whether they want to delete the status or save it as a draft.
Not currently available to all users
Currently, this feature is in the testing phase and is not available to all users yet. WhatsApp is testing its stability on different devices. It is expected that it will be rolled out on a large scale in the coming weeks.
