Budget 2026 will boost education and employment generation: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi, February 1 (IANS). Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday described the Union Budget 2026-27 as ‘Developed India Budget’. He said that this budget will strengthen education and will prove helpful in creating new employment opportunities.

Dharmendra Pradhan released a video saying, “The developed India budget takes everyone along. It promotes education and job creation and presents a roadmap for the next phase of development.”

The minister said that this budget presents a clear outline for the next phase of development of the country.

He said that in this year’s budget the allocation for education has been increased by 8.27 percent as compared to the previous budget. This increase reflects the government’s strong commitment to education.

Dharmendra Pradhan described the budget as visionary, youth-centric, people-friendly and employment-oriented.

“This budget is based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, which will provide special benefits to poor and middle class families,” he said in a post on social media platform X.

The Education Minister said that big and bold investments have been made in the budget to strengthen education and develop skills in line with future needs, which will impact every corner of the country.

In the budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government will set up a high-level standing committee focused on ‘Education to Employment and Enterprise’, which will give suggestions to make the services sector the mainstay of a developed India.

These measures include the establishment of five university townships around key industrial and logistics corridors and a proposal to create a girls hostel in every district to promote STEM education.

The Finance Minister said that girl students face challenges due to long hours of study and lab work in STEM institutions of higher education. Keeping this in mind, one girls hostel will be established in every district through VGF/capital support.

The budget also proposes to set up a National Institute of Design in Eastern India.

Additionally, Content Creator Labs will be set up in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges and a digital knowledge grid will be developed to bring together India’s cultural, heritage and spiritual knowledge on one platform.
