A new case of cyber fraud has come to light. Cyber ​​fraudsters threatened a Mumbai businessman and digitally arrested him. According to the police, the businessman’s wife was also targeted in this cyber fraud case that lasted for about two and a half months. Police said that the victim initially received a call from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office. After this another call came, in which he introduced himself as a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer. Police said they have arrested three people in connection with the investigation.

False allegations of involvement in money laundering
Police said that in this cyber fraud case, the victim was told that his name had been used in money laundering. This cyber fraud case went on from 19 August to 8 October. A video call was made to the victim, following which he and his wife were digitally arrested.

Threat of arrest was also given

The victim was intimidated and even threatened with arrest. After this, the victim was asked to share information of various bank accounts and transfer money. The victim transferred the money through RTGS. This amount was transferred to about 18 different bank accounts.

Complaint lodged with police

When the victim came to know about the cyber fraud, he contacted the cyber cell and informed the entire incident. Police registered the case and started investigation. Subsequently, the accused were arrested.

Police said that based on financial information, the accused were traced and arrested. One of the accused, Abdul (47), was arrested from Malad, Mumbai. The other two accused, Arjun (55) and his brother Jetharam (35) were arrested from central Mumbai.
