New Delhi, July 25 (IANS). ChatGPT of America’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) company OpenAI fell victim to a global technical disruption on Saturday. During this period, more than 1,500 users across the world lodged complaints about the services being affected on the platform.
As of 3 pm, 1,535 user reports were registered on DownDetector, indicating that ChatGPT’s services have been extensively affected.
According to the outage tracker, about 80 percent of users complained of problems in ChatGPT. At the same time, 8 percent of users faced problems in using the mobile app, while another 8 percent of users reported interruptions in API services.
Thousands of users around the world reported that they faced trouble accessing the AI chatbot. Many users were unable to log in, submit prompts, or access their chat history.
The problem started about an hour before the number of complaints on Downdetector started increasing rapidly. Users from many countries including America, Europe, India, Japan, Australia reported that services were affected.
OpenAI confirmed the issue on its status page, saying the company is investigating the issue.
The company said, “At present, there is a problem with some of our services. We have taken necessary steps to mitigate this and the restoration of services is being continuously monitored.”
Users reported a variety of connectivity issues on both ChatGPT’s website and mobile app. The issue appeared to affect both free and paid subscribers.
The most common complaints included login failure, authentication error, chat history not loading, sudden sign-out, ‘service unavailable’ message when submitting prompts, and chat not loading.
Many users also posted on the social media platform X saying that they got stuck on the loading screen or were unable to access their old conversations.
However, OpenAI has not yet disclosed the reason for this technical disruption nor given any timeline for full restoration of services.
This new technical disruption comes at a time when OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Codecs and API services were also affected on a large scale just a few days ago. At that time it took about 24 hours for services to become completely normal.
