Demand for EV is increasing rapidly in the country; Tata Motors received orders for more than 3,400 electric vehicles

Mumbai, June 21 (IANS). Tata Motors on Sunday announced that it has received over 3,400 orders for electric commercial vehicles across different categories. This is indicative of the rapid adoption of electric mobility solutions in India’s freight and passenger transport sector.

These orders include about 2,000 small commercial vehicles and pick-ups, about 900 trucks and about 500 buses.

These vehicles will be used in a variety of applications, including e-commerce, logistics, FMCG and FMCG distribution, intra-city mobility as well as sectors such as cement, steel, mining and tarmac operations.

According to the company, these orders reflect growing customer confidence in electric commercial vehicles and indicate that they are moving beyond pilot projects to large-scale use across various industries.

Tata Motors said this growth in order book strengthens its position in the country’s electric commercial vehicle market and supports India’s transition towards zero-emission mobility.

The company said that electric mobility in the commercial vehicle segment is now moving beyond its nascent stage, as businesses are increasingly incorporating electric vehicles into their everyday operations.

Over the past year, Tata Motors has expanded its electric commercial vehicle portfolio across multiple segments. In the small commercial vehicle category, the company offers vehicles such as Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intr EV for ‘last-mile’ and intra-city transportation.

Additionally, the company has also expanded into the intermediate and heavy commercial vehicle segments with its Ultra EV range. Additionally, Prima EV 55T truck and Prima EV 28T tipper have also been introduced for heavy freight operations.

In the passenger mobility segment, Tata Motors offers the Starber EV and Ultra EV buses for intra-city and inter-city transport services.

The company said that it already has a large fleet of electric vehicles in operation across the country, which includes more than 3,800 electric buses, which have covered a total distance of more than 55 crore kilometers. In the small commercial vehicle segment, there are over 17,000 Tata electric SCVs currently running on Indian roads.
