In 2022, many illegal sites were shut down
According to media reports, from 2022, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has ordered the closure of more than 1,400 illegal betting and gambling websites and apps. After the Online Gaming Bill 2025 was passed by the Parliament, the government is taking swift action against illegal sites.
