New Delhi, November 21 (IANS). While giving information on Friday, Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that he met Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong. Apart from this, he also discussed cooperation in semiconductor projects in the country with officials of some big companies of Singapore.

Apart from this, the Union Minister said about Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) that SSIA is going to partner with the country to support India’s approved semiconductor projects.
Giving information about this partnership on X, he wrote, “Discussions were held with Singapore companies on their experiences, major challenges and measures to accelerate the movement of equipment and materials.”
Union Minister Vaishnav said that discussions were also held with officials of MTI, Enterprise SG, Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Education Services, Singapore Polytechnic and A Star regarding skilling of technicians and engineers for semiconductor projects.
The Union Minister present in Singapore informed that Avnet, which is a large and important semiconductor and electronics warehousing company, is all set to expand its operations in India.
The country’s largest semiconductor conference ‘Semicon India 2025’ was organized in India from 2-4 September this year, which has proved to be an important milestone in the country’s journey towards making the country the next semiconductor powerhouse.
PM Modi inaugurated SEMICON India 2025 on the first day and visited the exhibition and interacted with exhibitors on the second day.
Semicon India 2025 was about moving beyond semiconductors to self-reliance, innovation and India’s emergence as a global technology powerhouse.
