Scammers are constantly adopting new methods to steal your hard-earned money. Many people often receive calls from unknown numbers; Sometimes, picking up a call and saying “Hello” leaves no response on the other end. Even if you think it is a network problem, it is actually a trap laid by scammers. Cyber Dost has shared a post on its official X account and clarified that this is actually a “silent call scam”.
**What is silent call scam?**
Cyber Dost tells that scammers use automated systems to make thousands of calls. As soon as you answer the call and say “Hello,” scammers know the number is active and mark it as such. After this the call is disconnected and your mobile number is added to the target list for future scams.
**What to do if you receive a silent scam call?**
A few important things to keep in mind: Hang up the call immediately.
Block unknown numbers calling repeatedly.
Visit NCRP (National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal) and report suspicious numbers through the “Check and Report” section.
**What not to do?**
If you receive an unknown silent call and there is no response from the other end, do not make the mistake of calling back.

Cyber Dost recommends calling the helpline number 1930 for help. If the helpline is busy due to high call volume, you can lodge a complaint at http://cybercrime.gov.in. While filing the complaint, give complete information so that immediate action can be taken on it.
