New Delhi, November 21 (IANS). The government said on Friday that e-KYC is the most accurate and easiest method of job card verification.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, its objective is to implement the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) in a transparent and effective manner, so that rural families can benefit from it. About 99.67 percent active MNREGA workers are already linked with Aadhaar.
Under the MNREGA scheme, 2.69 lakh gram panchayats are covered, in which there are more than 26 crore registered workers.
The ministry said, “Job card verification is an ongoing process, while job card renewal is required once in 5 years. To simplify and support these legal processes, States/UTs have been requested to use the already existing e-KYC feature in the NMMS app (National Mobile Monitoring System) for job card verification and subsequent renewal by following the existing process.”
This simple measure is aimed at helping states complete verification in a timely, transparent and efficient manner.
As 99.67 per cent of the active worker base has already been seeded, the e-KYC feature can be used as an easy, reliable, accurate and effective method of job card verification.
During e-KYC, the Gram Rozgar Sahayak/Worksite Supervisor/Mate/any other GP level employee captures the photograph of the MNREGA worker (through the e-KYC feature on the NMMUS app) which is digitally verified with his/her Aadhaar details in real time.
This process is completed in one minute by one worker.
The ministry said that the government is fully committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of the scheme at the ground level and to protecting the rights of every genuine worker, so that they continue to get their right-paid work under the Act without any hindrance.
