New Delhi, May 19 (IANS). The heat is going to increase further. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in New Delhi was recorded at 42 degrees on Tuesday. However, this heat is not going to stop now. Temperature will increase in many parts of the country including Delhi-NCR. The Government of India has already issued advisory regarding heatwave. Meanwhile, Nautapa is starting from 25th May, which will continue till 2nd June. During these 9 days, the earth will get extremely hot and there is a possibility of heat wave along with extreme heat.
‘Nautapa’ means nine days of intense heat. According to astrology, in the month of Jyeshtha, the Sun enters Rohini Nakshatra. On May 25, the Sun will go to Rohini Nakshatra, due to which the distance between the Sun and the Earth reduces. The sun’s rays fall directly and rapidly on the earth, due to which the heat increases immensely. During these nine days, the temperature remains much higher than normal and outbreaks of heat wave are seen.
However, Nautapa is not just related to heat, it is also extremely important for monsoon and agriculture. It is believed that the more severe the heat and drought during Nautapa, the greater are the chances of the monsoon being good and long. The hot and dry days of Nautapa warm the ocean water, which speeds up cloud formation and provides good rainfall to Kharif crops.
According to astrology, the lord of Rohini Nakshatra is Moon. In the strong presence of the Sun, the coolness of the Moon reduces, hence the effect of heat is more during these days. There is advice in religious scriptures about what to do and what not to do during Nautapa. Worship Sun God during Nautapa. Offer water to Sun God. For this, put rice, jaggery, roli and red flowers in a copper pot and offer incense sticks.
Along with worship, charity also has great importance in Nautapa. Donate sherbet, sattu, cold water, fan and seasonal vegetables and fruits to the needy during the 9 days of scorching heat. Avoid heavy or stale food and eat as much satvik and fresh food as possible. During this period, make people drink as much water as possible. Planting a pousara and arranging food and water for animals and birds is also virtuous.
Along with doing virtuous deeds, there is also advice not to do some things during Nautapa. Marriage, engagement, tonsure, housewarming, and other auspicious activities should not be performed during Nautapa. One should also avoid starting any new or important work. Avoid going out of the house in the afternoon and avoid long journeys as it can be dangerous for health.
Not only this, do not go out at all between 12 noon to 4 pm. During this time, drink plenty of water, carry an umbrella and wear light colored clothes. Take special care of the elderly, children and sick people.
