American billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is creating an “army” of robots. Explaining his plans, Musk said that he wants to create a large robot army, under which 1 million units of Optimus robots will be manufactured in the next few years. Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is developing the Optimus robot. During the company’s quarterly results, Musk said that Optimus could become Tesla’s most important project to date.
Musk has high expectations from Optimus
Musk has high hopes for Optimus and believes it has the potential to become the greatest robot product ever. He said that this robot has been designed to work five times more efficiently than humans. Musk has also asked the company’s board to have full authority over this project.
Optimus is being prepared for these tasks
Optimus is being designed to perform repetitive and difficult tasks in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and home assistance. The company is designing it to work like humans. Musk said that these robots can create a world where poverty will end and everyone will have access to the best medical care. These robots will also be able to work like surgeons. The Optimus was introduced during a Tesla event in 2023 and has been in the news ever since. Recently, a video of this robot has surfaced in which it is shown learning Kung Fu.
Optimus is in testing phase
Since 2023, the company has been accelerating work on Optimus and it is now in the testing phase. A few days ago, Musk had said that Optimus is completely AI-powered and does not require teleoperation. This means that it can move and react to actions without any human control. A production prototype will be ready early next year and mass production is expected to begin by the end of next year.
