New Delhi, May 13 (IANS). Billionaire industrialist Elon Musk confirmed on Wednesday that he is flying to Beijing on Air Force One with US President Donald Trump and several major American business leaders. There he will participate in an important summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“I’m going to Beijing on Air Force One,” Tesla CEO Musk posted on social media platform X. After his confirmation, it became clear that many big corporate leaders of America are reaching China. It is being seen as a major diplomatic and economic effort between the world’s two largest economies.
The US delegation includes more than a dozen big businessmen, with Elon Musk and Jensen Huang among the most prominent names. The visit comes at a time when American technology and industrial companies want to maintain their strategic business relationships with China despite geopolitical tensions and trade uncertainties between the US and China.
This visit to Beijing is also considered special because after almost a decade, a sitting American President is visiting China. It is believed that during this visit, Trump will emphasize on increasing trade cooperation and strengthening economic agreements. He will also keep in mind the increasing political and economic pressures in America.
This summit is also considered especially important for Nvidia. The company is facing difficulties in getting approval to sell its advanced H200 Artificial Intelligence (AI) chips in China. The main reasons behind this are increasing export restrictions and strict monitoring of semiconductor trade.
According to reports, before Trump reached Beijing, US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant met Chinese officials in South Korea. During this, there was discussion on maintaining the stability of the trade agreement signed between the two countries last year.
It is also being told that compared to the initial plan of the White House, many changes were made in the business delegation. The earlier list included names like Elon Musk and Tim Cook, but later several other corporate leaders were also added to the final delegation.
Underlining the importance of the business delegation in this visit, Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social before leaving for Beijing. Praising the industrialists attending the visit, he wrote, “I would ask President Xi Jinping, who is a highly respected leader, to further open up China so that these talented people can fully realize their potential.”
