Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold pre-budget discussions with industry representatives this week.

New Delhi, November 16 (IANS). Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold pre-budget discussions this week with several industry stakeholders to seek inputs for the upcoming Budget 2026-27.

According to reports, these meetings will start from November 18 and representatives from capital markets, startups and manufacturing sectors will attend the first day’s meeting.

On November 19, talks will be held with representatives of Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) and Information Technology industries. The Finance Minister will hold meetings with members of the hospitality and tourism industries and several labor unions on November 20.

Apart from this, representatives of Infrastructure, Energy and Urban Development will meet the Finance Minister on November 21.

Last week, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had a meeting with top economists of the country.

The meeting was attended by Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) V. Ananth Nageswaran along with several senior officials from the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and several economists.

“Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the first pre-Budget discussion with leading economists regarding the upcoming Union Budget 2026-27 in New Delhi today,” the Finance Ministry said on social media platform ‘X’.

The Finance Ministry further said, “The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and the Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, along with senior officials of the DEA.”

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister chaired the third pre-budget meeting on Wednesday and held discussions with representatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for inputs for the upcoming budget.

Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary and senior officials of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises were also present in this meeting.

As part of pre-budget discussions, the government is continuously holding meetings with industry representatives and other stakeholders to get inputs for the upcoming budget.
