Agartala, June 23 (IANS). Tripura’s first public electric vehicle (EV) charging station was inaugurated in Agartala on Tuesday. This is an important step towards promoting clean and sustainable transportation in the state. Along with this, EV will also provide convenient charging facilities to the users.
A senior official of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) said that being the nodal agency for the PM e-Drive scheme of the central government, the corporation has already submitted a proposal to set up 94 public EV charging stations at various locations across the state.
The official described this development as a big incentive for existing electric vehicle owners as well as those planning to buy an EV in the future.
Charging electric vehicles has now become much easier with the launch of a modern public charging station at the Banamalipur Power House complex in Agartala.
According to a TSECL official, this charging station has been established by the corporation in collaboration with a private organization.
He informed that this is the first capital expenditure (capex) based public electric vehicle charging station in the state and now it has been made operational for the public.
One of the key features of this facility is its fully digital and self-service charging system.
The official said users do not need the assistance of any employee to charge the vehicles; All they have to do is install the specified mobile application, select their vehicle model, make online payment and connect the charging gun to the vehicle.
The charging process starts automatically and stops when the prescribed charging level is achieved.
The facility is equipped with a 30 kW DC fast charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger, making it suitable for both personal and commercial electric vehicles.
The advanced charging infrastructure ensures fast, safe, reliable and convenient charging services for electric vehicle users.
Officials said that the increasing adoption of electric vehicles is not only helpful in reducing fuel expenses of consumers, but also plays an important role in reducing environmental pollution.
