Netflix recently launched a new app designed for children ages 8 and under. Its name is Netflix Playground. It provides a special place for kids where they can enjoy fun games based on their favorite shows. It also shows the expansion of the company’s presence in the gaming sector. The app comes with all Netflix memberships and is said to offer a secure, ad-free environment with no in-app purchases. Netflix Playground is available now on iPhone and iPad in select markets and will launch worldwide later this month.

Netflix Playground is available as a separate app that can be used by signing in with an existing Netflix account. It has a special collection of games featuring characters from popular shows like *Peppa Pig* and *Sesame Street*. According to the company, all the games can be played instantly and are also available offline. This app includes a variety of interactive activities, such as puzzles, memory games, coloring and easy creative tasks. Players can enjoy *Playtime With Peppa Pig*, *Sesame Street* mini-games featuring characters like Elmo and Cookie Monster, and *Dr. Seuss*-themed adventure-like experiences.
Netflix says the platform is designed to bring together entertainment, learning and creativity for young audiences. John Derderian, vice president of animated series and Kids & Family TV at Netflix, said the company aims to create a place where kids can actively engage with content, rather than just watch it. He added that the goal is to create “a great place to explore, learn and play.”
According to the streaming platform, this app is designed to integrate with its existing parental control tools. These tools include separate profiles for kids, maturity filters, title-level blocking, and viewing history. These tools allow parents to decide what their children can watch or play on a particular gaming app.
The special thing is that while Netflix introduced mobile games for the first time in 2021, with ‘Playground’ it has for the first time created a separate gaming app specifically for children. The app is currently available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Philippines, and New Zealand, and will be launched worldwide on April 28.
