Apple Inc.’s most-loved music device, which has been running for more than 20 years, is now discontinued. The iPhone maker has announced that it will be discontinuing the iPod touch, the last product in its product lineup. The Apple iPod was first made available for sale on October 23, 2001. The company said that Apple iPod Touch will be sold as long as the product is in stock.
Apple has sold a number of iPods over the years, such as the very popular iPod mini, iPod nano, iPod Shuffle and iPod Touch series. The iPod (later renamed iPod Classic), iPod nano, and iPod shuffle have been discontinued over the years. The series hasn’t been updated since the launch of the 7th generation iPod touch in mid-2019, which came four years after the last refresh and was the only model to go on sale. Even its presence on Apple’s official website was reduced, as other products, notably the iPhone, replaced it.
Apple no longer considers the product essential, as there are many new devices for listening to music. But if you want to buy the iPod Touch before it’s discontinued, you can buy an iPod touch through Apple.com, an Apple Store, and an Apple Authorized Reseller, as long as it’s in stock.
