New Delhi, October 23 (IANS). Government e-commerce platform Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) on Thursday appointed Rohit Lohia as Chief Business Officer (CBO).
According to the company, Lohia has deep experience in consulting, entrepreneurship and has held senior positions in fintech, payments and business operations.
He previously served as Senior Vice President at Paytm (One97 Communications Limited), where he played a key role in driving business, strategy, technology and product development.
He also co-founded startups in the fintech and e-commerce space and worked at Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Vibhor Jain, acting CEO and COO of ONDC, said his expertise will help the company in value creation.
Jain said, “We are extremely pleased to welcome Rohit to the ONDC team. Rohit brings valuable experience in building and scaling new-age digital businesses. With a deep understanding of the e-commerce landscape, Rohit’s expertise will help drive the ecosystem towards new opportunities and sustainable value creation through open network infrastructure.”
Lohia said their aim is to foster an ecosystem where transparent access, innovation and operational excellence go together.
“Together we will empower small businesses and enable them to create a win-win relationship between sellers and buyers by adding value to the digital commerce landscape,” Lohia said.
ONDC was established in December 2021. It is an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, which aims to create a convenient model that will revolutionize digital commerce and further promote the penetration of retail e-commerce in India.
In April this year, T Kosi, founder managing director and CEO of ONDC, resigned from his post.
ONDC has witnessed strong growth in less than three years, crossing 20 crore transactions and making strong progress towards its mission of democratizing e-commerce in India.
