Nice/New Delhi, June 14 (IANS). India is working to deepen partnerships in emerging global technologies and transform itself into an innovation partner of the world. This information was given by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Bharat Innovates Summit in Nice, France, Goyal said the objective of ‘Bharat Innovates’ is to act as a global accelerator for India’s innovation ecosystem and establish India as a trusted innovation partner for the world.

Goyal said, “The year 2026 is being celebrated as the India-France Innovation Year, which provides the right environment for this initiative. We are meeting in such an uncertain time when there are major changes at the geopolitical level, coupled with changes in new technologies.”

Referring to the growing strategic partnership between India and France, Goyal said that this year both the countries have elevated their mutual relationship to the status of ‘Special Global Strategic Partnership’.

He said that both the countries are working together to shape global thinking related to innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Union minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had co-chaired the AI ​​Action Summit in Paris in February 2025, while French President Emmanuel Macron had joined India for the AI ​​Impact Summit in February 2026.

Goyal said, “I appeal to my French colleagues to use this opportunity to build meaningful partnerships. At the same time, I invite our French friends to come to India, invest, design, innovate and manufacture, both to serve India’s huge domestic market and to export from here to the rest of the world.”

The ‘Bharat Innovates’ Summit was jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi and French President Macron.

The event brings together startups, investors, entrepreneurs, technology leaders and policy-makers from India, France and other countries to explore new opportunities for innovation, investment and mutual collaboration.
