New Delhi, June 16 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday that India-France partnership in technology, innovation and strategic areas is getting new momentum under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Also, he invited French businesses and investors to partner in India’s development journey.
Goyal said on social media platform ‘X’ that he attended a dinner organized by renowned lawyer and IIT Delhi Board Chairman Harish Salve, where he interacted with industry leaders, members of academia, researchers and innovators from India and France.
The Union Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, India-France relations have gained new momentum and cooperation is increasing in areas like strategic, economic, technology and innovation.
Furthermore, he urged French companies and investors to be part of India’s development journey and work together towards a more prosperous and sustainable future for both the countries.
During his visit to France, Goyal visited Sophia Antipolis, Europe’s largest science and technology hub. The visit was part of India’s efforts to strengthen deep-tech engagement with European markets.
Describing it as the Silicon Valley of Europe, the Minister said that this technology park offers a successful model of how research, talent and enterprise can together drive innovation and economic growth. More than 2,600 companies work in this hub, which are associated with various advanced technology sectors.
Goyal said that India is rapidly emerging as a global center of innovation and manufacturing. He invited the industry leaders present at the Technology Park to consider opportunities for investment, collaboration and expanding their operations in India.
He said that India’s innovation ecosystem is creating new avenues for partnership and joint development of technology, which can benefit not only India and France, but the entire world.
In Nice, the Minister also met local leaders and representatives from government, business, innovation and investment to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the field of technology and innovation.
Goyal informed that ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ is being organized at ‘Palace des Expositions’ in Nice. The event is showcasing India’s deep-tech capabilities through the participation of 120 startups and over 20 leading institutions from 13 technology sectors.
According to the minister, more than 350 global investors and venture capitalists participated in the event, which reflects the world’s growing interest in India’s growing innovation and startup ecosystem.
