New Delhi, December 30 (IANS). India is now entering the new era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The government has set a budget of more than Rs 10,300 crore in the next 4 years under ‘IndiaAI Mission’. Along with this, 38,000 GPUs have also been installed in the country, so that work on AI can be done faster.
According to an official statement, the government aims to create strong computing facilities, develop AI models in India and provide full support to startups. This will benefit the common people and promote new technology in the country.
AI is now being used in agriculture, health, education and government work, making people’s lives easier. IndiaAI Mission, Digital ShramSetu and schemes to create new AI models are ensuring that technology reaches every citizen while promoting research, skills and employment.
At present, about 60 lakh people are working in technology and AI sector in India. The earnings of the Indian tech industry are expected to exceed $280 billion this year. It is estimated that AI can contribute $1.7 trillion to India’s economy by 2035.
There are more than 1,800 Global Capability Centers in India, of which more than 500 work on AI. At the same time, there are now more than 1.8 lakh startups in the country and about 89 percent of the startups started last year used AI.
India has scored 2.45 out of 4 on the ‘NASSCOM AI Adoption Index’, which shows that about 87 percent of the companies are using AI technology.
AI is being used most in industry, automobile, retail, banking, insurance and healthcare sectors. Together they contribute about 60 percent of the total value of AI.
According to a recent survey by BCG, 26 percent of Indian companies are successfully using AI on a large scale. Apart from this, India has been ranked third in the world in the field of AI in the Stanford University report.
The official statement said that all these efforts are strong steps towards making India a global AI leader and will help in fulfilling the dream of ‘Developed India 2047’.
