India is dreaming big, youth want to lead in the field of AI and semiconductor: PM Modi

New Delhi, May 16 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India is now dreaming big and the country’s youth aspire to take the country forward in emerging sectors like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and semiconductors.

Addressing the Indian expatriate community at an event in The Hague, Prime Minister Modi said that today’s India is going through a period of unprecedented change and has emerged as a global leader in the field of technology, innovation and digitalization.

He said, “Today India is dreaming big. The youth of India dream of taking the country forward in areas like AI and semiconductors.”

The Prime Minister said, “India has become the third largest startup ecosystem in the world. Our startups are doing remarkable work in AI, defense and space sectors.”

He said that India recently hosted the world’s largest and successful AI summit. Earlier, the country had also successfully organized the G-20 summit. The Prime Minister said that now such achievements are no longer an exception, but have become the identity of modern India.

The Prime Minister said that India has launched the world’s largest unique identity program and has also implemented the world’s largest financial inclusion scheme.

He said that the pace and scope of digitization in the country is unprecedented, while India also runs the world’s largest government-funded health insurance scheme.

Referring to India’s achievements in science and technology, the Prime Minister said that India has reached those parts of the Moon where no country had been able to reach before. This shows India’s growing potential in space research and innovation.

The Prime Minister said that there are now about 125 active unicorn companies in India. He reiterated that Indian startups are doing remarkable work in areas like AI, defense and space technology.

He said that the country’s startup ecosystem has reached the third position in the world and the aspirations and innovation of the Indian youth are the biggest forces behind this.

The Prime Minister said, “Aspirations in India are unlimited, hence efforts are also becoming unlimited.” He stressed that the youth of the country are giving new direction to India’s future development journey.

He further said that India’s progress is being driven by the combination of innovation, entrepreneurship, digital infrastructure and inclusive development plans, which are transforming the country at an unprecedented pace.
