New Delhi, February 28 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the inauguration ceremony of an Advanced Semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) facility in Sanand, Gujarat. During this, he described today as an important milestone in the semiconductor sector.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “After the world’s largest and successful AI Summit, today we are witnessing another historic milestone here. While the AI Summit introduced the world to India’s AI capabilities, today is another proof of India’s commitment to technology leadership.”
He said, “It is not very far that till 10-11 years ago, there was very little discussion about data and chips in India. When it came to technology, our discussion was only around the IT sector, but now India is empowering itself in the field of hardware. India’s role is going to be strengthened in the global chain. India is very fast becoming a part of the global semiconductor value chain. I would like to congratulate the entire team of Micron, the Gujarat government led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and all the engineers and I congratulate the worker very much.”
PM Modi said, “This facility of Micron Technology is a great example of the new temperament of India. The approach with which today’s India is moving forward from policy to production can be seen here. AMU has signed for this facility in June 2023. Its ground breaking took place in Sanand in September 2023. Machines started being installed in the pilot facility here in February 2024. Today February Commercial production will also begin at this facility in 2026.”
He said, “Whoever sees and understands this sector can understand its meaning. Even in the developed countries of the world, agreements like advance pricing take 3 to 5 years, but India cleared it in just a few months. When the intention is clear and the dedication is towards the rapid development of the country, then the policies also become clear and the decisions also gain momentum.”
He also expressed special gratitude to the leadership of Micron.
