New Delhi, May 10 (IANS). Walmart Chairman and CEO John Furner on Sunday met with a group of Indian business leaders who are building high-growth and digital-first consumer brands. This shows that India’s dominance in global consumer and digital commerce is continuously increasing.
At the meeting, founders from sectors such as beauty & personal care, food & beverages, lifestyle & apparel, fragrances and pet care along with leaders from Walmart and Flipkart discussed growing businesses through digital channels and expanding into global markets.
The meeting reflects Walmart’s focus on strengthening India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and supporting emerging brands working towards creating new brands for domestic and international consumers.
“It was extremely inspiring to spend time with founders building consumer brands in India. What stands out about them is their ambition to deliver for both India and the world, with a strong focus on quality, innovation and customer experience,” said Furner.
He further added, “At Walmart, we are committed to supporting businesses on this journey by helping them grow and connecting them with customers across markets.”
The growing role of digital marketplaces in enabling Indian brands to reach customers on a larger scale was also discussed in the meeting.
The founders shared their business journey, operational challenges and the collaboration needed to drive future growth.
Kalyan Krishnamurthy said today’s entrepreneurs are building brands with a deep understanding of consumers and long-term ambitions.
He pointed out that platforms like Flipkart are helping businesses increase market access, build capacity and expand across India.
