Instagram AI Update: Your reel will now automatically speak in 5 Indian languages, know how the feature will work

Instagram has added some great new features for Indian creators. This will make it even easier for creators to reach a global audience. The most notable feature is Instagram’s AI-based voice translation and lip-sync feature, which includes new fonts for Indian languages to make content feel more local and personal. Now, Instagram creators can translate, dub, and lip-sync their Reels into Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi using Meta AI. These languages have been added to the existing list of Hindi, English, Spanish and Portuguese. Although this feature was announced in November 2025, it is now gradually being rolled out to all users.

How this feature works:
When a creator uploads or edits a Reel, they can turn on the Meta AI translation option. After this the AI automatically translates the language spoken in the reel into the chosen language. The special thing is that the voice does not sound robotic. Meta AI maintains the tone and feel of the creator’s original voice, making the video appear as if the person is speaking in another language.

Lip-sync feature makes reels look even more natural:
This feature also includes an optional lip-sync function. If turned on, AI matches the translated audio to the creator’s lip movements. This makes the video appear as if the creator is actually speaking in the language and not just reading a translation.

New Indian fonts in Edits app:
Along with voice translation, Instagram is also adding new Indian fonts to its video editing tool, Edits. Creators can now use Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts when adding text and captions. This means that languages like Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese will not only sound better but will also look better visually. These new updates are part of a suite of creator-focused features recently launched on Instagram and Facebook, including AI photo and video restyling, bulk caption editing, video reversal tools, lip-sync effects, and hundreds of new sound effects.
